We were established in 1857 as a local general store. Col. Thomas Smith ran the business until his son Sidney took it over in 1890. Sidney continued to run the business with the same pride and enthusiasm as his father. In 1920 William Harvey Smith started working for his father and eventually took over the business.

Looking toward the future with a mind on expansion, William Harvey Smith decided to go into the mail order business. In 1976 the current owner William Campbell Smith opened a store across the road from his father and continued to build the family business to what it is today. In 1984 when W.H. Smith retired, W.C. Smith took over all accounts and the business continues to grow. With a new location still in Clifford Ontario, W.C. Smith still meets the high standards established in 1855 by Col. Thomas Smith.
